Oh gosh, I don’t know if that’s answerable lol It sort of depends on what I’m looking to read at a given time. I’m not always interested in something long, in which case the perfect story is a one-shot, where the characters are in voice. I like PWP as much as the next person but I always like when there’s some kind of backstory or emotional development as part of the story.
If we go with longer work, I want a well developed plot. The story needs to be organized, the characterization spot on and some be somewhat original, within the bounds of how original a fanfic can be. I typically don’t like AUs so I often avoid reading them.
